Determined!

To beat this heat!!

Oh the joys of summer...it is nice when the weather is warm but man - does the house ever heat up.  Unintentionally I have not turned on my air conditioning yet!! (and I live on the 2nd floor)

I just haven;t been hot enough yet to need it on....except for maybe on the weekend and even tonight.  Okay - now I am intentionally not turning it on.

I am boiling but determined not to turn on the air conditioning tonight...

Tomorrow - it may be a different story...

Obsessed

Last night I went to Chapters as I knew the book I was waiting for was out now.  However, when I got there they were all sold out of the book I wanted.  I found another book that I had been interested in before and so I decided to buy it.
Then I bought 3 religious books all to do with Catholicism.  They just looked interesting to me.

I have finished the one non-religious book and I am starting to read one of the other religious books.

Maybe I am obsessed.

Why I hate to read...

I have not been to the library for a very long time.  Hense, I have not been reading a lot lately either.  But just a few days ago, I went to the library for the first time in a very long time.

I have read three books since then.  That's right - three.

That means that first thing in the morning, I grab my book and read.  I get home from work and read.  I go to my evening activities, come home and read.  I read before I go to bed.  My whole life is spent reading.

Which means...all day long all I can think about is reading my book when I get home.

I think...

What is going to happen in the book?
Is everything going to turn out?
Is so-and-so going to die?
Etc
etc
etc

My whole life is spent reading....

or thinking of reading.

That is why I hate it.  But I also LOVE it.

Excuse me....while I go back to my book

Surprise!!

This week I flew across country to surprise my sister for her birthday.  I was not sure how it would go...would she like it?  Would she not like it?  You never know how someone is going to react.  Overall, I think it was a good reaction.

While we were there we helped her lay some bricks that she had planned to do this week.  It took 4 of us 7 hours to lay them.  She was really glad we were there to help!!

It was not all work though.  We also spent quite a while on Monday at Ikea!  It was a nice shopping trip but I had to use one of my sister's old suitcases to cart home my purchases.

I got home this afternoon and I am now completely exhausted.  I also went to Zumba tonight so that might be part of the reason I am exhausted!

It was a nice trip though...

Dear Sarah

It has been awesome to watch you grow up. It is hard to believe how old you are now. You are becoming a 'person'. I know you have always been a person but you are just looking older. Soon you will be a teenager. It will happen faster than we think!

I have many hopes for you. Here are some of them; you will love yourself, you will be confident, friendly, nice, that you will think of others feelings, etc.

I am starting this blog to hopefully share with you my thoughts for you. I hope you enjoy it.

Goodbye 2011

It is hard to believe that 2011 is already over. It is amazing how fast time flies. When I think back to 2011, I am not sure what I will remember. Perhaps my trip to BC this year - my experience of being on a houseboat in the middle of the Shuswaps? Or maybe my trip to Yellowstone and the Blackhills in July?

It is hard to know what 2012 will bring. I do know that I will be going to Hawaii in February. that should be fun. But other than that, who will I be one year from now? Will my life be any different? I think it will be relatively the same to what it is now....but who knows??

I guess that is the fun part about a new year....you never know what a new year will bring but you can be sure it will be full of surprises....just hopefully they are all good surprises!

:-)

Happy New Year Everyone!

coffee anyone?

I don't understand the appeal of coffee. I am not a coffee drinker - could never get into the taste and did not want to depend on it.

I find it funny that some people are so dependent on their coffee - they cannot function without drinking a least one cup of coffee every morning. But what I really don't understand is when people will spend at least 1/2 hour every morning in the Tim Horton's lineup waiting for their cup of coffee. Is it that good? Or (worse yet) when they wait in line at 11 am on a Sat morning for their cup of coffee. It could be that they are waiting for lunch....but they could get that anywhere (without the lineup). It is -18 outside and you want to wait in line? Don't get it....probably never will.

Don't get me wrong! There are days when I am so tired that I am practically falling asleep at my desk (at work) and I need to depend on caffeine to get me through the rest of the day. Honestly though - that is usually in the afternoon. I am usually okay to function in the morning but the afternoon.....that is a different story.
