Do you ever find the future (or the thought of the future) exciting?

I do!!

Who knows what is going to happen? Who knows who you are going to meet or what you are going to do? It is that excitement that can keep you going sometimes.

I hope I live for another 30 years.....or more. I guess I need to take care of myself if I want a chance at life....

the past

When looking back on my life, I have realized that I had a great childhood!! It was awesome!!!

I think the main reason it was awesome is because of my family...without them, it wouldn't have been so great!

I have so much memories from my childhood. I know someone who does not remember any of her childhood. I could not imagine that!


The past is great.......over 30 years on this earth is awesome too!!! I love the past!

being prepared

I have to say a speech tomorrow and I am prepared (I hope). That is a good feeling. I like it when you are able to walk into a room and feel prepared. You confidence definitely goes up!!!

shampoo

I am running out of shampoo in my bathroom and am aware of the fact that I have to replace my shampoo soon. I am not sure if this is odd or not but I have a tendency to try different shampoos every time I buy it. The shampoo I currently have I like so I am not sure if I will buy something different.

It is very nice to be able to shampoo your hair that is for sure!!

mail

In today's world of email, texting, and other forms of convenient communication it is very rare that I get a piece of personal mail in the mail. It is awesome when you get a piece of personal mail and even better when you get two (Thanks C and W)!!

I guess maybe I should start writing and sending personal mail myself and make others happy:-)

ER

Tonight I watched ER for the first time in a really long time!

It is hard to believe it is almost the end of the show (for good).

I remember the first season it was on TV we just found out that my grandma was dying of cancer. There was an episode of a husband and wife and the wife was dying (I think of cancer). After she died the husband danced around her bed in the hospital. I started to cry...thinking of my grandma and grandpa. It is hard to believe that was almost 15 years ago!

We found out grandma was dying in Sept and she died on Christmas Eve. That episode ran in October I believe. It was quite sad.

1 lb

1 lb? 1 lb? Seriously? 1 lb?

How did I lose 1 lb this week? SERIOUSLY!!! I was not watching what I was eating AT ALL!!

Correction - I was watching and thinking...pizza - bad, cake-bad, ice cream-bad, hot chocolate-bad, more pizza-bad, more cake-bad, more ice cream-bad, muffin-bad, another muffin-bad, A&W-really bad.

And yet I lost 1 lb? What is up with that?

I ROCK!!!!!

Eating downstairs

This one is for my niece. We rarely eat in the basement. I think it was in the fall that we allowed my niece to eat in the basement because we were having pizza, a movie, and a sleepover. It was a special night!!

She keeps wanting to eat in the basement...today we did because the kitchen is out of commission.

days like this

Days like this:

You wake up, the roads are icy, it takes you all day to get to work (an exaggeration), you have a busy day, you still have a busy day, you still have a busy day, you get home, eat, go to a meeting, it is chaotic.....confusing and dreadful, you come home.....

And you think of something to appreciate that day:-)

There are times you just need to take the time to reflect on your day.

Today was one of them.

Making it home in the fog

This morning it was really foggy. I thought it might disappear eventually but it didn't. It stayed around all day.

We had to drive back to the city from the farm. It was a challenge as we could not see too far in front of us. Definitely not enough to pass.

It was odd....almost like a scary movie. You would pass vehicles on the highway but not know they were there until they passed you.

Definitely made the drive interesting and I am so glad we made it home!!

Old home movies

Today we took out the old video camera and watched some really old movies. Sadly the tape is going but hopefully we can get any videos off of it that we can. They were funny! Not really all that funny when we made them but definitely funny 15-16-17 years later.

(We watched the video where T and I dance with a whole bunch of different footwear. Need I say more?)

Farmers

When I come out to the farm, there is always something happening!!

Tonight we came out to the farm to the news that one of the bred hiefers just had a calf! (Awww, how cute...) Unfortunately, not that much later, we found out that the cow prolapsed (which means the uterus exited the body after child birth) and so then we had to call the vet so that he could come and put it back in. The vet said that if the cow lived for 15 mins afterwards he would live. So far, so good.

Our next job was to make sure the calf sucked. The cow was kicking the calf a bit and not allowing it to suck but it seems good now.

A farmers work is never done. They are constantly doing something and they need to know so much. They need to be accountants, mechanics, mini-vets, and farmers, etc, etc, etc.

I am constantly amazed by the brillance of farmers!!

viewing homes

In my community we have a home lottery every year. This year my cousin and I went through the Home Lottery's home. It was really nice! I could picture myself living there...lol.

Unfortunately all of the tickets were already sold out. Oh well...maybe next year?

Talking on the phone for an hour...

Today I phoned my cousin (to tell him that Natasha Richardson had died) and we ended up talking on the phone for an hour. It was a great conversation (with his wife). I am so confused right now....life is complicated, isn't it?

I like how you can start the phone conversation with one person and end it with another person. It was fun and we talked about alot!

Being Irish!!

Tonight I went over to my parents house for Potato Soup, Irish Sourdough bread, stew, and of course green (lemon) pie. It was great!

I also had the opportunity to watch my niece at her swimming lesson (her last one). It was great!

If you are lucky enough to be Irish, you are lucky enough!

May you be in heaven a 1/2 hour before the devil knows you're gone!

Spring!!! It's here??? (almost?)

I think Spring is here (but do not say that out loud!). I am afraid that if I speak those words out loud, Spring will disappear.

It is a fairly decent night out tonight. I walked to the mailbox to mail some letters and it was not that cold! (Amazing, I know!) It is so nice to have decent weather now. I am looking forward to being able to go for walks on the sidewalks and not having to worry about falling! It will also be nice to have the sidewalks cleared off!

I am sure it will continue to snow but hopefully it will not be staying around for long. I remember some years waking up in May to snow on the ground...hopefully that will not be this year!

Bismarks

I have no idea how to spell Bismark....

You have not had a bismark until you have had one from the Assiniboia bakery! There is nothing better. Doughnut type thing with jam in the middle...it may not sound great but it is SOOOO much better than great!!

You should try one!!! (It is rare that I get one because they are quite fattening but man are they good!!!)

Happy St Patricks Day!

Okay, I know it is not St Patricks Day! However, today we had a get together with the Irish side of my family. Every year we get together around St Patricks day to visit. It just makes sense. It is hard to get together around Christmas as everyone has their own family to see and my family is just too big to get together.

(I have 36 1st cousins on that side of the family....only 4 live in the same city or surroundings as I do though.)

Getting a flat tire...and not having to change it

Today we went out to the farm and we got a flat tire. Fortunately, we did not have to change it...we just pumped it up!!!! And went on our way! It was awesome! We did not have any more problems (with the tire anyway!).

10 provinces, 3 territories....that's it!

The other day I was watching an episode of Friends and it was the one where Chandler introduced the gang to a new game...naming all 50 states in 6 minutes. I decided to try it and failed miserably. I only got to 44. I went on the computer and looked up the States and could not believe the States I forgot!! I forgot Kentucky, Oklahoma, Kansas, to name a few....what was I thinking?

At least in Canada we only have 10 provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island) and 3 territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavit).

Way easier:-)

writing letters

Today I sat down and actually wrote a letter. Yes, a letter with a pen and paper. I wrote this letter to my cousin who is in Afghanistan right now. I forgot how relaxing writing can be. In fact, it is so relaxing I fell asleep.

I decided to wake up and go to bed!

Spending time with Kate....part 2

Since I could not hang out with her too much last night (on her birthday), tonight we got together and I picked up pizza on the way home and then we watched a movie... fun times, fun times. We also talked a bit.

on her birthday!!! Today my sister celebrated a (BIG) birthday!! I will not tell you how old she turned...lol. Unfortunately she is going through cancer right now and had to spend her birthday in partial isolation while she goes through the treatments.

I was busy today so I was unable to visit her for too long but I did stop by after my meeting and visit her for a 1/2 hour. It was great!

Birthdays with family...

Today I went over to my cousin's house to celebrate her birthday. Her husband made us supper and man was it ever good! We had appetizers and an ice cream cake....it was really good!!!

It is nice to get together with them and visit. They have 5 kids and seem busy!

The Spa

Okay, so for our girls night out, we went to the Spa! It was awesome! We spent a lot of time hanging out in the pool just talking. The thing I liked about the spa was that the water was warm so I did not feel cold and start to shiver way too early. It was just comfortable and when we went outside it did not feel that cold even though it was -20ish.

I hate being wet....I hate the feeling of being wet. I enjoy swimming but I like to go to a pool, swim and then change. I hate going to the lake, swimming, and then drying (almost) but then going back into the lake for a little while. I like to swim, get out, and change.

The spa was awesome that way, we even had the chance to go back to our room to change as well. It was awesome!

Girls Night Out

Tonight we had a girls night out! It was a lot of fun and very interesting...We did not do anything wild or crazy but we did spend a lot of time sitting around and talking. (Which is why it was very interesting...it is amazing what you find out about other people, especially people that you know.)

Hoar frost

Honestly, I do not feel like looking up how to spell hoar frost but I can tell you that it was very pretty this morning when I stepped out of the house.

I love the winter when the trees look so pretty glittering with the ice that forms on them...

(although it is not fun scraping it I tell ya....)

Venting

There are days when you just need to vent. You do not mean anything by it...you do not mean to be mean but sometimes....

Like when someone has papers that you know you need to fax to someone by a certain day and you keep reminding that person for 3 weeks that you need to fax it to this person by this day but that person ignores you or keeps putting you off and you miss the deadline. It reflects badly on you when really...what could you have done differently?

Oh well....I guess if worse comes to worse you could always just vent? LOL

Personal days

Today I was off work on a personal day. We have personal days at my work where you can take a day off to help a family member if they are going through some sort of medical problem.

It was nice to be able to take the day off work to be with my sister as she started her cancer treatments! It made me feel useful! And it is always nice to have someone to lean on...

Off topic

I love how my brain works sometimes. I can be thinking of one thing and then in the next moment, I have a completely different thought! It is awesome (refer to March 1 post)!

What is better in life than being your own person? Sure, you may find that people look at you strangely, et al, but it is great being yourself!

I like being the person I am...and not caring too much about what others think.
