To sleep or not to sleep...

Once upon a time I used to be able to sleep the whole night without pain.  But for the last couple of months (or longer), I haven't been able to sleep the whole night through as my shoulders bother me.  Last night I think I slept for about 3 hours.  I am hoping I will be able to sleep longer tonight.  I also hope I do not get sick due to lack of sleep.  (Because being sick sucks!!)

I have found that if I spend some time stretching before I go to bed it is much better.  The only problem is that I have been so tired lately that I do not feel like stretching.  Tonight though I hope I can stretch well before going to sleep.  Maybe what I should have asked for Christmas is a good night's sleep.

I am going on vacation in less than a couple of months so I hope I will be sleeping through the night by then.

People just don't get me

Sometimes I connect words, events, etc in such a unique way that when I try to express myself, people just don't get me.  It happens all the time!

People don't understand that when I say something, I said it because it doesn't make sense, or it is stupid, or because it is taking it too far.  That was the whole point of me saying it and people just don't get that.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone tries to finish my sentence or my thought for me.  Most of the time, they are no where close to what I was actually trying to say.  A lot of the time, my thought was way more profound than how they finished my thought for me.  It is very frustrating.  Sometimes it takes me longer to express myself because I am trying to find the words that will help people understand the connection I am making.  But most of the time, the connection is so unique that only I understand it anyway.

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever meet someone who completely gets me but I have come to the realization that I don't think anyone will. And I guess I have to get used to the idea that people will continue to just completely misunderstand me.

Don't put off today...

I took the week off work to get some work done around my house.  My main goal is to clean and organize my house (going through drawers, closets, etc). Today was my first day off work.  I got some cleaning and organizing done but I probably could have gotten more done if I hadn't got my passport renewed, picked up some groceries and towed away my car (sniffle).

Yesterday morning when I went to start my car it would not start.  I tried plugging it in but even that did not help it start.  Since it still was not starting today, I got it towed away to the dealership.  Hopefully it will not cost me all that much....(sigh).

who am I?

I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my life.  I have been taking personality tests to figure that out.

I have figured out I am INFP on Meyers Briggs and Type 4 on Enneagram.  Now I just have to figure out what that means.

lol

a sunday drive through the country

On a Wednesday!

We decided that we were going to drive out to the country today and just look around.  We were going to go to the one town but ended up not being able to exit (as it was under construction).  We ended up at a completely different place.  We started randomly turning with not too much thought to direction.  We ended up at another town and wondered around for a bit.  I ended up getting a new band for my watch (I desperately needed a new band) and it now looks like a completely different watch.

We had lunch in this small town (it was really good too).  And then we went to heaven...or at least my idea of heaven.  We went to a used book store!  I found lots of books....but only bought 4.  I had to think about how I would get them home...

After (somehow) doing some more random turns we ended up back in the city.

I wish there was more to say (but alas there is not).

Except...

there's something about...

Ikea!

Today we went shopping first thing in the morning.  We grabbed some essentials and then it was off to Ikea (for some fun).  Fortunately, (I believe) I have been able to keep my spending habits under control.  I did not buy too much at Ikea (but may have bought more if I did not have to pack it to bring back home).  Although (I believe) I am practical and probably would have restrained myself anyway.  But to just think of everything I would buy if I had a bigger house...(sigh).

My biggest purchases were for a couple of girls who start with the letter A (to celebrate their new rooms).  I am hoping I can fit everything in my suitcase.  (why did I pack so much?)

The sad (and tragic) news from today is that my purse broke.  Alas, I will need to use some crazy glue to repair it.  (sigh)

I also did laundry (quite exciting) and watched Up.

What will tomorrow bring?  (Probably either stuff in the country or canoeing)

Oh Canada (Day)

Yesterday we went to Fallowfield and picked strawberries.  C now has lots (and lots and lots) of strawberries.  Then we came home and washed them (and ate some as well).  When we were in the patch picking strawberries, the Snowbirds flew by above us.  It was very Canadian (and strawberries are even red).

We decided to head over to Parliament Hill after supper to take in some of the entertainment.  We stayed for a couple of hours but left before the fireworks.  However, we did not miss seeing fireworks as there were tons of fireworks being set off around us.  It was quite the sight...

The very first year C was in her house, we went to PEI.  We ended up coming back from PEI on July first.  We went downtown in the afternoon and took in some of the street performers (etc) that were downtown.  Unfortunately it started to rain - not just rain but pour.  So we ran into the nearest restaurant for something to eat.  It was a 2 hour wait (as it was in the other restaurants in that area).  We waited and then ate.  Afterwards it was still raining so we decided to skip the Parliament Hill entertainment and go home.  Imagine our surprise when the city of Nepean set off their fireworks display right outside our door.  It was a beautiful sight!

Unfortunately they no longer set it off right there but...we were still able to see fireworks.

a lasagne day

This morning we had bacon, eggs, and toast around 10:30.  We did not have lunch (although snacked a bit in the afternoon).

We also made both chocolate lasagne and normal lasagne for supper.  We had a guest this evening for supper and he seemed to enjoy it a lot.  (We also had garlic toast and caesar salad.)

After supper (but before dessert), we played a game (Forget the name).  It was alright for awhile but I got bored and just wanted someone to win.  (Our guest did.)  Then we had chocolate lasagne and played another game.  (it was much more fun and over quickly.)

We have some leftovers for the week - it is good.

The last few nights we have had fireworks set off around the house.  Tonight they were right on the street (and really noisy).  We will see what happens tomorrow night.

The car does not have air conditioning.  Yesterday was a cooler day and I did not notice too much but today was warmer.  Since we were not in the car too long, all was well.

Vivre le quebec

This morning we woke up and drove to Tim Horton's.  There we ordered breakfast.  I rarely eat at Timmy's and even rarer eat breakfast there.  It took me awhile to decide but eventually ordered.

We then headed out to the wonderful french city of Montreal.  I was tired!  I had a really hard time keeping my eyes open.  Fortunately I was not driving!

We got into Montreal and found the Eaton's Centre (underground shopping).  This was a good thing as it was a rainy day and nice to keep out of the rain.  We browsed for about an hour and then decided to stop for lunch (I had a noodle bowl).  We then shopped for a couple of more hours.  (I bought a wallet and some shoes.)

We (basically) went through the billion shops in the malls and decided to head over to Old Montreal (taking the Metro).  After walking around there (and not buying anything), we headed back to the car.

We just made it home and are now ordering supper.

It was a good day but pretty uneventful...

ACHOO

Today is a rainy day so we did not do too much.  It is good though as C had to take her car in anyway.  (Hence, we were without car.)

ACHOO!

Yesterday we went downtown to see the Jersey Boys.  It was a good show.  (Although C said she liked Darren Criss better.)  Of course, I had to come home and research them to see how accurate the show was.

ACHOO!

We are currently watching the Big Bang Theory discs.  (Which was a nice way for me to take a nap.  lol)

ACHOO!

After getting her car back, we picked up some groceries today too.  It was nice as now we have some idea of what we are going to eat this week.

ACHOO!!

The other thing (in case you couldn't tell) is that I have been sneezing a lot!  I am pretty sure it is more allergy related than I am coming down with some sort of illness.

Fortunately I took some allergy medication earlier today and I think it is helping....?

ACHOO!!!

(Maybe not.)

What time is it?

Lately I have been having problems sleeping.  I am not sure why.

Last night I went to bed knowing I was going to have to get up at 3:45 to get ready to go to the airport.  I decided I would not go to bed early as I would not fall asleep right away anyway.  I think by the time I fell asleep it was probably around 11pm and then I woke up around 2am and could not get back to sleep.  Finally around 3am I decided to turn on the TV thinking it might distract me enough so that I could fall back to sleep.  But alas, it did not.

The good news is - I did not sleep in (and miss my flight).  Although it seems like a long time ago now, I had enough time to eat breakfast, take my garbage out, and deliver a note to my condo corp.  Then drive to the airport.

I got to the airport about an hour before my flight.  Since I was already checked in, I just had to check in my luggage.  I quickly went through security where they swabbed my laptop (they always do that).  I got to the other side of security and had the chance to relax.  :-)

Soon I was on the plane.  When I purchased the tickets a few months ago, I noticed the plane had 2 seats on either side of the aisle and that was it.  I decided that since my only choices were either aisle or window, it was not worth the extra money to choose my seat ahead of time.  I got to sit over the wing (window seat).

By this time I was exhausted.  After realizing my on-board entertainment did not work.  I found myself relaxing with my eyes shut.  I started to do the - falling asleep, falling asleep, WAKE UP, falling asleep, falling asleep, WAKE UP, falling asleep, falling asleep, WAKE UP, falling asleep, falling asleep, WAKE UP.  I am not sure why but for some reason my body would not let me fall completely asleep.  Surprisingly enough - I felt relatively rested after that.

Eventually I started looking out of my window and contemplating life's thoughts.  I had a profound thought (or so I think) that I am so lucky to be born in this day and age to experience the art of flying.  How many of my ancestors would ever have thought one day we could soar above the clouds?  I thought about writing a poem based on this thought but did not as it would require me stringing together some cohesive thoughts.

Finally we landed and (man!) did my luggage ever take forever to arrive!  Maybe it was because I just wanted the day to start (now that I am at my destination).

I took a cab here and was finally able to have some lunch.  I think today is going to be one of those mixed up days where my body thinks I need more than 3 meals.

For some reason, I can't wait until tonight when I can sleep!

One day

Do you ever look at your life and wonder if other people's lives are as boring as yours?

I think that if I look at my life day by day, it is not the most exciting thing in the world.  But yet, overall, I love my life.  I have had so many wonderful opportunities that not everybody gets to experience.  There are still other things I would love to do with my life but I am happy for everything I have experienced so far.

I've had the opportunity to go  cross country skiing, water skiing, downhill skiing, sailing, snowshoeing, etc.  I have also traveled to many different parts of the world.  I have even had the chance to attend the Canada Games.

There are still things I want to do, things I want to accomplish, places to go, people to see.  I am happy that one day (knock on wood) I will be able to accomplish them.

:-)

ouch!!!

Ugh!!

Tonight I fell down my stairs....and now I am sore.

I believe I am okay but I scraped my legs and my hands (a bit).  I was on my way to Zumba and tried to avoid the ice on them but accidently tripped on my pant leg.  I am wondering how long it is going to take me to no longer be sore.  I just hope my soreness leaves after tonight but...there is not much I can do if it does not.

Oh well...

Zumba

I have signed up for Zumba on Tuesday nights (and Monday nights but that is a different story).  It is close enough for me to walk.  The first week I walked to Zumba - there was a wind chill of -40 so it was mighty cold.  The second week I walked but it was much warmer.  This week I drove there from a meeting.  It was the warmest trip so far.

I wonder what will happen next week?

Working from Home

I have been working from home for about 5 months now.  There are things about it that I like (ie. no commute)  but I am not entirely convinced it is something I would hope to do more of in the future.  I like being able to separate my work from my home.  The good news is that I only have one more month left (of the pilot project) and then I can decide what I want to do.

Tomorrow I am working from home again.  It snowed on the weekend and I just got notice that they are planning on clearing the snow from our parking lot tomorrow.  Now I have to figure out where to park my car.  If I was at work, it would not be an issue.

Now I am on my way to Zumba!
