4...17

4...17 is the code word we used to refer to DQ as so that no one would know what we were referring to.

Today we combined my niece's birthday with my sister's birthday and had a DQ blizzard cake for dessert. It is definitely something I do not have very often! I find that I get really sick after eating DQ ice cream (sometimes) and so I have a tendency not to eat DQ ice cream very often. But today, I did not get sick!!

I was actually able to enjoy the cake! YAY!

Still winter....

Okay, so maybe living in a place where there is 9 months of winter is not the most exciting place to live....especially on days like this when you wake up in the morning and the temperature is -30 degrees...but I really do enjoy winter. What would Christmas be without snow? Or hockey? (Even though I do not play and have not played in many, many years.) I like having winter options, do I want to go sledding today? Why yes, yes I do!

Spring is just around the corner but I am okay with winter still being around too!

Per se

It was really quite amusing...a few weeks ago my niece (who is still 4) used the words 'per se' in a sentence correctly! Am I the only one impressed that someone her age could use those words correctly? I think it is quite astounding really.

So one of the things I appreciate is living in a family where young children use big words.

(Still) doing stairs.....

I have been doing the stairs at work for a few months now and I think I am starting to see/feel the benefits! It is really exciting!! I am now doing at least 400 stairs a day - that is about 20 flights. On one hand that seems like a lot, and on the other hand that doesn't....but I am still proud of the fact that I kept to it and am still faithfully doing them!

Yay me!!

NOT keeping track...

This might seem like an odd thing to appreciate but at work we are keeping track of the processes we are doing. (or at least they are keeping track.) I do not have to keep track as I am still in training and I am not doing all the required functions for my job! It is awesome!!!

My team might hate me (lol) but at least I do not have to keep track...

Convenient food

It is so easy nowadays to pick something up quick from the store. Alot of the time you do not even have to prepare it if you do not want to. It sure makes it easy to eat. (Which may or may not be a good thing.)

There are days when you need to eat and run....today was one of those days. It was great!

Short blog updates

There are days when it is really nice to not have to write a long blog message. I find that I think I have something to say but then I say it in a sentence or two. The good thing about updating your blog is that you can make it as short or as long as you want to make it.

Most days I pick the short option (like today).

Making money...

What is better than making money? LOL.....I have wrestled with being rich. I think there are definitely pros to being rich but I also think there are cons and I think that the cons sometimes outweigh the pros. I like having money but I am perfectly happy making money knowing that I earned it.

Seeing things through a child's eyes...

Today my niece had us over for her 'birthday' - (it is not until next week though) and she had a sleepover with 3 of her friends. They watched Cinderella 3 and thought it was hilarious!!! It is nice to see things through young people (even if they are 5-8 years old).

Just around the corner....

Spring! Spring will be here soon!! I have not found this winter bad. The beginning of winter this year was not good (it was cold and snowy), but the rest of the winter has not been too bad. (Which reminds me....I wonder if I should plug in my car? Nope, it is only going down to -18.) However, I am looking forward to Spring!! It is always nice when the weather gets even nicer!!!

Fibre One

I had heard about this cereal a few weeks (maybe a month ago) and wanted to try it but I already had breakfast so I did not try it. Today I tried it and it was delicious!

Interview coach

I have been applying for jobs at work but have not received any offers yet. I have asked an HR person if they will help coach me through some interview questions and she has advised that she is willing to do so! (Which is very exciting!)

It probably won't happen until March but that is fine with me too!!!!

A clean bed...

I love going to bed after I have washed all of my sheets....and tonight I am!!! It is one of those little things that you do not think about very often...and you kindof take for granted. I am looking forward to sliding under my covers tonight into freshly washed sheets!!!! It will be AWESOME!!!!!!

Tomorrow is Monday......but it is not

Okay, what does that title mean? It means that tomorrow I do not have to go to work!!! YAY!!! Because we get the day off for Family Day! This means that I can enjoy my Sunday night knowing that I do not have to work the next day!

(I also had a 4 day weekend but we won't mention that!)

Unexpected purchases

Today I went shopping (sort of) with my mom. We went to the fabric store because she wanted to buy a new zipper for their tent (it is in desperate need of a new zipper). It wasn't until we were in the store that I realized it was a perfect opportunity to buy some material for a cocktail dress. I am planning on going on a cruise in June and I need a cocktail dress.

Why not make it?

So now I (ie. my mom) just need to make it! (Joy)

Friday the 13th...

I do not consider myself to be superstitious but I may be more superstitious than I think I am! Today is Friday the 13th and nothing happened....YAY!!!!

Next month will be Friday the 13th too!! I cannot wait...lol.

Getting organized....

I had a lot to do tonight and somehow I got all organized and was able to accomplish it. I was able to drop off some items I needed to drop off at someone's house AFTER going to a meeting I chaired. It was pretty great!!!

I feel so much more organized now!

singing in the shower

Okay, I do not actually sing in the shower (any more). Not because I don't want to, but because my neighbours would think I am crazy...(not that I care?).

Tonight, I was not singing out loud, but I sang in my head. I sang...Put your Head on my Shoulders, and Teenage Idol...both oldies but goodies. I cannot believe how many words I remember! (I really am not that old, I swear)

Tonight I had a meeting with a bunch of teenage girls. They decided that they would like to order pizza as it was going to be delivered by a bunch of hockey players. Then they decided to get their picture taken. I just about died laughing!!!

It was soooooo funny!!! (Just technical difficulties.)

But it was a good laugh!!

A good weekend...

It was really quite an enjoyable weekend all around. I had fun and I learned a lot about myself. (Yay me!) Now, it is back to the daily grind! (Yay?)

Climbing the hill...

3 times! There is a hill at camp...it is a big hill and it usually drains you. I used to hate climbing the hill but this year I purposely climbed the hill 3 times just to get some exercise!

Winter Camp when it is warm out

Every year we go to Winter Camp. It is usually unbearably cold (or at least it has been the last few years). This year, it was really, really nice. I do not think it fell below -10 all weekend!

It was great!!

My blog reminding me....

To watch Criminal Minds (which I did). It was in watching this weeks episode that I realized; a) it was a repeat, and b) I had already watched it.

But it was still really good!!!

(I must have missed the 1st episode the first time....)

Don't you just love it when you ask someone to send you pictures and they actually do? It is SOOOOOOOO coool!!!!!

I am excited because now I have the pictures I asked for!!! YAY!!!!

My car starting....

This morning it was -30 when I got to work. It was supposed to be warming up throughout the day. I did not worry too much about my car starting but then....

It was still only -24 when I left at the end of the day AND there were extreme windchills. I had mentioned to a co-worker that my car was outside allllll day and I was concerned it would not start. She said to not worry about it, so I didn't. But then....

She phoned me from her car when she left and she said it was a lot colder than she had thought!!! When I left (9 hours after parking my car), I was concerned it would not start - especially when I saw someone getting a boost (in the electrical area of course).

BUT....when I got to my car, it started!!

And I made it home safely.

The First Day of February....

I love the beginning of the month! You never know what is going to happen! We have a whole month to do whatever we want and to reach our goals! What more could we ask for??
