What time is it?

Lately I have been having problems sleeping.  I am not sure why.

Last night I went to bed knowing I was going to have to get up at 3:45 to get ready to go to the airport.  I decided I would not go to bed early as I would not fall asleep right away anyway.  I think by the time I fell asleep it was probably around 11pm and then I woke up around 2am and could not get back to sleep.  Finally around 3am I decided to turn on the TV thinking it might distract me enough so that I could fall back to sleep.  But alas, it did not.

The good news is - I did not sleep in (and miss my flight).  Although it seems like a long time ago now, I had enough time to eat breakfast, take my garbage out, and deliver a note to my condo corp.  Then drive to the airport.

I got to the airport about an hour before my flight.  Since I was already checked in, I just had to check in my luggage.  I quickly went through security where they swabbed my laptop (they always do that).  I got to the other side of security and had the chance to relax.  :-)

Soon I was on the plane.  When I purchased the tickets a few months ago, I noticed the plane had 2 seats on either side of the aisle and that was it.  I decided that since my only choices were either aisle or window, it was not worth the extra money to choose my seat ahead of time.  I got to sit over the wing (window seat).

By this time I was exhausted.  After realizing my on-board entertainment did not work.  I found myself relaxing with my eyes shut.  I started to do the - falling asleep, falling asleep, WAKE UP, falling asleep, falling asleep, WAKE UP, falling asleep, falling asleep, WAKE UP, falling asleep, falling asleep, WAKE UP.  I am not sure why but for some reason my body would not let me fall completely asleep.  Surprisingly enough - I felt relatively rested after that.

Eventually I started looking out of my window and contemplating life's thoughts.  I had a profound thought (or so I think) that I am so lucky to be born in this day and age to experience the art of flying.  How many of my ancestors would ever have thought one day we could soar above the clouds?  I thought about writing a poem based on this thought but did not as it would require me stringing together some cohesive thoughts.

Finally we landed and (man!) did my luggage ever take forever to arrive!  Maybe it was because I just wanted the day to start (now that I am at my destination).

I took a cab here and was finally able to have some lunch.  I think today is going to be one of those mixed up days where my body thinks I need more than 3 meals.

For some reason, I can't wait until tonight when I can sleep!
